What do I actually Get?
In almost every mastering session, the following actions are performed:
-Optimizing average and peak volume levels for proper relative loudness
-Signal processing - compression & EQ
-Arranging tracks in final sequence (if applicable)
-Timing of the space between tracks
-Establish a sonic "field" for all tracks
-Place track markers at head of all tracks
-Remove unwanted noise like clicks, pops, hiss
-Clean-up start and ending of each track (including fades)
-Insert Master Track Log – the PQ codes required for replication-Includes Free cdr reference of your music material
mailed to your doorstep for backup or reference
What is Mastering?
Mastering is widely misunderstood, often mangled, and sometimes mistaken for mixing. Still, you need it. Because
once your songs are recorded and mixed, the tracks are shaped, sculpted, scooped, equalized, compressed, and
finessed into sonic splendor through the audio process known as mastering.
A well-mastered song sounds great on all kinds of systems, whether on an audiophile-quality sound system, a car
radio or an iPod. Accurate monitoring and well-trained ears ensure that your mastered album will translate onto
almost any system.
What are Stems?
Stems are a full set of sub-mixes representing all the tracks in a song, broken out in some logical grouping.
For example, the stems for a rock song might include: kick, snare, the rest of the drums, bass, guitars, lead
vocal, backing vocals, keyboards and reverb/effects. These sub-mixes are created so that when they are mixed
together they add up to your exact, final mix.
Happy Recording!
